Part 6 – Cisco Unified Ports on Fabric Interconnects

Loading

Unified Ports implies its ability to carry eth+fc traffic.

By default all ports on the fixed module are ethernet and if we wish to convert a port to unified the fabric interconnect will need a reboot.

If we have an extender module, we just purchased and if all those are ethernet ports, we don’t need to reboot the FI, this can just need a restart of the extender module from the NXOS

Click on the fabric extender, choose the option to Configure Uplink Ports

It says now that the module will need a reboot post the conversion of the ethernet to FC

In this example, I’ll just pick the last four ports( they will need to do in a pair of 2 from right to left) to be added as unified ports. Move the slider from right to left until 4 ports are picked.

Once done, click Yes to proceed and now the fabric interconnect will reboot

Once it’s back online, we can now see all ports are up

Verification from the fabric interconnect shows our link is up as well.
