Before making changes to a san switch you should backup its configs. This is extremely handy when you wish to do a firmware upgrade.Â
PrerequisitesÂ
You will need an FTP server to backup the config files to
ProcedureÂ
1 Ssh or telnet to the switch via putty
2 Enter command configupload
3 Choose protocol as ftp or scpÂ
4 At the IP Address prompt enter the IP address of the FTP server
Server Name or IP Address [host]: 192.168.10.1
5 User Name, enter a user with access – User Name [user]
6 Path/filename, press enter to accept the home directory or enter path
Path/Filename [/config.txt]:
7 Section, press enter to select all components or enter the element to backup
Section (all|chassis|switch [all]):
8 On the FTP server, we should see a file as config.txt. Â
Expected Output
sanswitch01 :root> configupload
Protocol (scp, ftp, sftp, local) [ftp]:
Server Name or IP Address [host]: 192.168.10.1
User Name [user]: anonymous
Path/Filename [/config.txt]:
Section (all|chassis|switch [all]):
