Part 2 – Configure StoreOnce Catalyst Store

Loading

The Catalyst in HPE StoreOnce acts like a DDBoost container in DataDomain holding all our backup copies and offers replication and deduplication of data stored within it.

HPE StoreOnce is a multi-purpose appliance, which means that we will be able to create

  • Catalyst Stores – Acts as a container for holding backup images.
    • eg: PROD_DAILY_BACKUP
  • Cloud Bank Stores –  These are just used to store copies of Catalyst Stores
    • eg: COPY_PROD_DAILY_BACKUP
  • VT Libraries –  They have existed always as a replacement for physical LTO tape drives. It simply offers virtual tapes stored as disks.
  • NAS Shares –  NAS shares can be exported out from StoreOnce
  • VT Replication and NAS Replication – The function is just to replicate NAS Shares and VT to peer HPE StoreOnces in the estate.

Overall as you understand, the terminologies are much similar to that of an EMC data domain.

Under Data Services > Click on Catalyst Stores to create a new Store

Give the Store a name eg: Commvault_VMware and Click Create

Under the Client Access tab, Click Create to add a new user mapping.

Assign a password for the Catalyst Store and map it to the client cv-media-01

Our Acces is thus set and will now add connect it to our Commvault.
